Maile O’Connell

IBDP Coordinator & IB Science Teacher of Secondary School

Maile O’Connell grew up in Hawaii, and graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UH). She spent over a dozen years working as a laboratory researcher, in the fields of molecular biology, virology, and immunology. You can find the research papers she contributed to online at PubMed. She has been teaching math and science in China for five years, and has taught primary, middle school, and high school students. She believes that while engaging activities, regular routines, and high expectations are essential for learning, students are at their best when they feel connected. Relationships built on mutual respect and trust are the foundation of an excellent education.
